Hi there! Ferris Bueller here, and if you're just joining us, we are now... two weeks into our stay in the fabulous and bizarre city known as... The City. Definitive, titular, known by no other name, it is simply The City. I have to admit a certain amount of admiration for its style.
On the other hand, I've seen a whole bunch of these curses now. Weird things, and there's one today, actually. People are going around rating each other, on hotness. Now I'll be the first to admit, this entire place is full of some highly aesthetically gifted people, and there is nothing wrong with paying that a little well-earned respect. But you know, there's something about going around giving people number scores that just seems a little unbecoming. I mean, just because someone's not a ten doesn't mean they should spend the day feeling bad.
Besides, I have to say, as much as I enjoy the views, and I do, because hey, I'm only human... I'm starting to miss a few things about home. Especially Sloane, with the curses and Valentine's coming up.
But I'll be okay. She doesn't even know I'm gone, right? So all I have to worry about is me, and I'll manage.

Ramping up for Valentine's Day, are we? I have to say, City, you're a pretty good-looking bunch of people. I'll give you a 9, overall. And any and all of you can feel more than free to take credit for that score, and it'd be a 10 if I didn't want some of you getting the wrong idea.

Meanwhile, I'm settling in fine. I've found an apartment, but I can't say I spend a whole lot of time there. I mean, hey, there's too much to see out here to spend it all cooped up inside, and I'm not a big fan of the ticking. On that note, if anyone needs a roommate? I know a great guy who could use a little bit less maddening noise in his life.

What else? Oh, yes, of course, thank you everyone who helped me when I first got here. I know I thanked you each personally at the time, but you were all just outstanding, so really, thank you all again. You're just a fabulous bunch of people, City.

Though, there is one point I have to check. It's two thousand and ten?

I am so, so glad I'm not cursed today.

[identity profile] tenthsickday.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I hear you there.

Though I mean, really, nobody here is that bad-looking that they should have to feel bad about it.
inmyothertights: (Billy - floating~)

[personal profile] inmyothertights 2010-01-30 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
It's kind of awkward. I mean, a City full of ridiculously pretty people.

[identity profile] tenthsickday.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
At least I can't make any complaints about the scenery... even if it's almost enough to make a guy self-conscious.
inmyothertights: (Billy - I see you there)

[personal profile] inmyothertights 2010-01-30 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
And as curses go this isn't too bad.

[identity profile] tenthsickday.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
New or not, I can tell that much already. I mean, I heard about a zombie apocalypse the other day.

You might grow tired of the limits the city imposes in the end and you could always get a pet to help with the ticking.

[identity profile] tenthsickday.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess I might, but worrying about what could happen is no reason not to enjoy whatever I can right now.

A pet might be a nice solution, though there's a lot to be said for human companionship, too, isn't there? Not that a roommate necessarily rules out a pet.

[identity profile] sings4dragons.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
A roommate is a very good thing provided you're able to find the right one.

[identity profile] tenthsickday.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'm sure it can't be so bad. I've yet to talk to someone here I don't think I could get along with, after all. Sure it's only been a couple of weeks, but I'd call that a good start.

I'm Ferris Bueller, by the way.

[identity profile] sings4dragons.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a very good start.

I'm Menolly. It's good to meet you.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm glad to hear that you managed to find an apartment, Ferris.

[identity profile] tenthsickday.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I most certainly did, thanks in no small part to your guidance. Pretty nice place, too.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Good, I'm glad to hear it! That's really the first step to getting settled here, after all.

But, er, if you don't mind my asking...what's two thousand and ten?

[identity profile] tenthsickday.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
The year? Unless I misunderstood. Though it explains these devices, I guess.

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! I thought you might've been talking in numbers too, the way that a lot of other people are today. And I haven't heard anyone else going higher than ten, so two thousand and ten would've been really quite something, indeed!

It's good you're settling in so well, Ferris. I don't have any handy roommates to lend you, but you're totally welcome to visit the Center if the ticking gets too bad. There's almost always someone there.

And yep, it's 2010.

Is the curse bothering you? It's not a bad curse, but it's kind of disheartening.

[identity profile] tenthsickday.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Why thank you, I will certainly keep that in mind. The curse isn't too bad, though I have to say, I don't think I could name a single person I've met here who should feel too bad about any ratings they've got. Hence why I thought the whole City had earned itself a solid 9.

I think the bigger thing is that it was 1986 last time I wrote the date. But hey, it is nice to get to spend some time in the 21st century without being in my 40's.

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-02-04 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
We are freakishly good-looking overall, aren't we? It's like the City has this preference for soap-opera-pretty people.

That's kind of a jump there. How're you liking the new millennium?

[identity profile] tenthsickday.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it's a City that selectively populates itself, right? Not that I'm particularly superficial or anything like that, but if I were the City, I might choose the pretty people, too. Maybe it thinks they make it look good.

It is, isn't it? Seems like a nice millennium you've got yourself here, though. I mean, it certainly explains the devices. This tiny little thing is significantly more powerful than my computer.

[identity profile] horrible-penny.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
It could make itself look good without pretty people if it would stop with the curses. Not that I can complain about the recent curses... they've been harmless. Mostly. Kind of.

Well, thank you. Technology's crazy; the better it gets, the smaller it becomes.

[identity profile] eastwick-bitch.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 08:50 am (UTC)(link)
You are very much a 9, Ferris.

[identity profile] tenthsickday.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Why thank you. I'd complain about the missing point, but what's the point of life if I haven't got something to strive toward?

[identity profile] acceptingeyes.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
..and you are an 8, but you're a little young for me.

..Sorry about that, I was really just wanting to say that it is 2010.

[Voice]

[identity profile] tenthsickday.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, don't worry about it. I could hardly blame someone for being cursed.

So I am in the future. Gotta say, this place hasn't proven boring yet.
