truant: (Understanding allows people like us)

Hi there! Ferris Bueller here, and if you're just joining us, we are now... two weeks into our stay in the fabulous and bizarre city known as... The City. Definitive, titular, known by no other name, it is simply The City. I have to admit a certain amount of admiration for its style.
On the other hand, I've seen a whole bunch of these curses now. Weird things, and there's one today, actually. People are going around rating each other, on hotness. Now I'll be the first to admit, this entire place is full of some highly aesthetically gifted people, and there is nothing wrong with paying that a little well-earned respect. But you know, there's something about going around giving people number scores that just seems a little unbecoming. I mean, just because someone's not a ten doesn't mean they should spend the day feeling bad.
Besides, I have to say, as much as I enjoy the views, and I do, because hey, I'm only human... I'm starting to miss a few things about home. Especially Sloane, with the curses and Valentine's coming up.
But I'll be okay. She doesn't even know I'm gone, right? So all I have to worry about is me, and I'll manage.

Ramping up for Valentine's Day, are we? I have to say, City, you're a pretty good-looking bunch of people. I'll give you a 9, overall. And any and all of you can feel more than free to take credit for that score, and it'd be a 10 if I didn't want some of you getting the wrong idea.

Meanwhile, I'm settling in fine. I've found an apartment, but I can't say I spend a whole lot of time there. I mean, hey, there's too much to see out here to spend it all cooped up inside, and I'm not a big fan of the ticking. On that note, if anyone needs a roommate? I know a great guy who could use a little bit less maddening noise in his life.

What else? Oh, yes, of course, thank you everyone who helped me when I first got here. I know I thanked you each personally at the time, but you were all just outstanding, so really, thank you all again. You're just a fabulous bunch of people, City.

Though, there is one point I have to check. It's two thousand and ten?

Is it really? Well, I'm--really very flattered, thank you.

Not at all. It's just the truth. After all, you've been exceptionally kind.

Well, it's the right thing to do, really. I do remember what it's like, being new here and trying to get settled in amidst everything that goes on here. And besides, a little kindness goes a long way, I've found.

Oh, it certainly does. But I don't think I could name many people in any reality who've been quite as kind as you have.
Posted by [identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com
All right, now I really do think you're just flattering me.
Posted by [identity profile] tenthsickday.livejournal.com
Not in the least.

Well, maybe a little.

But it's only because you've been so nice, and that part isn't an exaggeration.

Hahahaha, don't you just love that feeling?

Well, I'm not exaggerating about being flattered. Or about thinking you're terribly kind and considerate, yourself.
Posted by [identity profile] tenthsickday.livejournal.com
Well, I do try to make an effort. Happy to hear that it's showing, really.
Posted by [identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com
Oh, it is. Especially since there are a lot of people here who, unfortunately, aren't nearly as considerate as you are.
Posted by [identity profile] tenthsickday.livejournal.com
Now that's a shame. I must have had good luck in meeting the people I did, I can't imagine disliking any of them. Really, though, I don't think going around the City - or anywhere, really - being rude to people is any way to live.

Well, there have been some...dangerous people here, before. So it is prudent to be a bit careful as you go about your business. But for the most part, people are nice and pleasant to talk with, yes.
