truant: (Only the meek get pinched)
As you may know if you are familiar with Ferris Bueller's Day Off (and if you're not, I highly recommend picking it up if you have the means), Ferris spends a good deal of time talking to the camera. He seems to be fully aware of the fact that he has an audience, as evidenced by the famous post-credits scene below.

How will this work in Poly, you ask? Well, in Poly, the audience is you, the muns. You're capable of seeing everything he does, even the things your characters aren't, but not of speaking to him. How will this work in-game? Well, Ferris is going to be keeping a private video journal in addition to his public posts.

While Ferris seems to be fully aware of the camera in the movie, he is also unquestionably a real person living a real life within the movie. So it doesn't quite work to carry over that sense of awareness in a roleplaying game. Other characters in the movie are not aware of Ferris' breaks to speak to the camera, so your character in-game wouldn't be aware of it either, hence the decision upon a private video journal.

So really, it's just there for out-of-character entertainment purposes. Yes, muns, he is talking to you, but no, he doesn't realize that he has an audience at all, let alone who that audience is. Now you may be asking...

But can my character fourth-wall Ferris?

The answer is, of course, absolutely, yes. Ferris Bueller's Day Off is, honestly, too iconic of a movie in too many universes, and too frequently referenced in other canons, for me to say no.

And frankly, if you do fourth-wall him, he'll just assume that his reputation has preceded him this far. He's Ferris Bueller, people; his ego is that big. Tell him he was in a movie, and he'll assume that they've made a movie based on his exploits. After all, who wouldn't want to see a movie about Ferris Bueller?

If there are any questions you have about Ferris and his fragile fourth wall, please feel free to ask me in a comment right here. Thanks!

As a quick aside, yes, I know there was a TV show. No, it is not included in any way, shape or form in Ferris' background. I have never seen it, I am never going to see it, and I will happily continue to play the one, true, Broderick-ian Ferris.
